Making a Inspirational Poster

THE ORIGINAL IMAGE

I feel images are sometimes overworked. Photoshop and other pic editing programs can be dangerous because it is hard to know when to STOP! My advise.....step away from the image if you have been editing for a while, then take a fresh look. Your initial reaction is always the right one!

I wanted to make my very own inspirational poster, so I picked an image I snapped last week that was sweet and calm, did some editing and found wordage that I loved.

DIY Dog Leash

Supplies needed: 6' in length of scrap fabric cut or ripped into 3 pieces, scissors, thick thread, clip, and some decor scraps for decor (optional).
Step1: Tie one end with the string(this will be your clip end)       Step 2: Start braiding     Step 3: After the leash is braided, go ahead and slip end 1 through the clip and close with many wraps of the string      Step 4: On end 2, bend over the braided leash just enough to make a comfy handle and close with wrapped string. You can add scrap fabric pieces in between the wrapped thread for some pizazz!
Gretta got to go for a walk after the leash was finished. I think she had a little pep in her step from being seen with such a cute leash!

Woodland Photoshoot

The beautiful Donna modeled our new pieces that have arrived. You can view them here!

Hanging Garden's

When the warm air hits the Chicago land area, I get a case of garden fever. I am outside every chance I get pulling weeds, mowing the grass, planting new goodies, and dreaming up my next outdoor project.

Lately I have been collecting images of these very cool hanging gardens and I cant wait to start mine. I have some mercury glass bottles that I will be growing some herbs out of. I will post those pics later!

Music Video Tuesday

I recently saw the movie " The Hunger Games" and found a video that  reminded me of the book turned movie's concept. When adulthood meets childhood  (vice versa) with a twist of violence. Sound like a horrible mix, but this video adds a fun spin to our darker side (or at least to a pinata').

Secret Agent is a great option is you need to liven up the mood & you may also want to check out their tune  "Get Burned" which has also made it on my playlist! Enjoy

Cheyenne Meets Chanel

I must admit that I am obsessed with clothing! I love all types of fashion and I get so excited when I find someone who pushes me to try new things and step outside the comfort zone.
Meet Shea Marie, a blogger, fashion stylist, and occasional designer. Shea is my fashion inspiration since she is not partial to one particular style.
I often think to myself, how do these ladies take such great pics of themselves? I have tried the tripod self photo thing and 2000 snapshots later I am left with maybe 3 good photos? Well, for Shea she has a secret weapon. Her BF Krissy Good is a photography hobbyist and has been the creative sidekick for the blog. Man, I need me one of those!
Well, I really love this secret fashion weapon of mine (Cheyenne Meets Chanel) and I hope you get to use her ideas as well! Happy Friday and Happy Blogging:)

DIY Heel Fix

We have seen the scuffed shoe toe fix done many ways but I recently needed a quick shoe heel fix so here is what my solution was.

I took a pair of Calvin Klein basic black leather pumps (I just cant get rid of) that had dog chew marks and scuffs down the heel and did a glitter camouflage.
Step 1. Cover the heal in a basic color undercoat. This will help you get a better coat when the glitter is applied, plus it filled in the dog teeth marks. Note: I used Martha Stewart's paints which where inexpensive and came in a hundred colors. I used the color sandstone for both the satin and glitter paint.
Step 2. Apply the glitter pain over the satin coat. Wait 5 minutes in between glitter coats. It will take about an hour for everything to completely dry and beware......it took 8-10 glitter coats to get the results I was looking for so be patient!

Strapless Stripes & Strappy Sandals

Anthropologie has played with my heart strings once again! I have posted many times over my favorite picks from the store, but this summer I am stepping out of my clothing comfort zone and I couldn't be more excited!

The idea of going strapless seems like too much work mostly because it means a strapless bra is involved. Strapless bras equals tugging and pulling throughout the day and this is a better option then the very bohemian bra less movement which I don't think is right for me!

I found three dresses that are strapless with stripes that I am crazy about as well as some sandals that I would LOVE to rock this summer. Should I go for it and if so, which to choose?
Urcos Handkercheif Dress
Glossed Bow Sandals
Desert Coast Dress
Paso Fino Sandles
Sea Bands Mini Dress
Median Fringe T-Straps

Music Video Tuesday

This video is usually not something I retreat too mostly because its very cutesy, but I can't deny my love for gardens and hair buns.......Really?
Since this week has been a very weird one on my end, I needed a cute simple pop of music to start off my week. Brooke Fraser is a recent find for me and although I am not sure if I like or love the sound, I at least enjoyed her garden inspired video:) Hope you do too!

Men vs Woman

This past weekend was a little stressful for many reasons but mostly I was anxiety ridden about buying a car.
TJ and I just couldn't agree on which car was a good fit for us both. We where looking for mid to compact size, great on fuel, style, and affordability. I realised quickly that men and woman have two completely different ideas when trying to talk about the same thing. You will understand below!

Jewelry Displays

My mounted deer head is from here.

I have a issue with jewelry. I just love it! It is my drug of choice and I am coming clean.
Having such a issue, I needed to find a way to store everything so that the chains and beads don't tangle and knot.

Above I found 6 ways to sort out your pieces and the deer head pictures are my personal solution! If you have a unique fix, send it in. I would love to see it:)

Hello Friends

Hello Friends! This past year we have set up our Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Bloglovin and even an Instagram account for 11 Eureka. If you have "friended" us on any of the listed we thank you, but if not, please check us out. We are really nice to be friends with......I promise:)

DIY Hinge Bracelet

It is no secret that I am a gold toned fan when it comes to jewelry. I will give silver a shot from time to time, but my heart lye's with gold.

Always needing a project, I decided to make my own industrial bracelet with scrap leather and brass mini hinges. Note: with ageing solution, I can patina the hinges for a new look

1. You will need a pair of sharp scissors,  a medium thickness suede scrap, small door hinges (found at any hardware store and they come in many finishes), and flat pliers for pulling the leather through the holes.

2. Cut the strips of leather (2 pieces) and for easy threading, cut the leather end at an angle.

3. Once the leather is pulled through, adjust the hinges (I used six) and get ready to stack!

An easy D.I.Y. project that is fun and stylish:)

Music Video Tuesday

Maybe its the sunshine getting me sooo excited for summers possibilities, but after viewing this video I am for sure looking forward to barbeque's, bon fires, and getting together with good friends!
I love the simplicity of this video and the thoughts of Mumford and Sons playing in your backyard while the dogs run free and drinks are served. Oh, the possibilities of summer! Enjoy

Happy Monday

I hope everyone had a awesome weekend and Easter Sunday. I did!
Very busy working, doing projects, a little landscaping, and cooking dinner......woooooo! Yesterday I was given a Zeiss Ikon Contina2 camera by my Opa (grandpa). It was the very first camera he purchased when he came into this country and it is mint condition. I am excited to start shooting with film again and seeing the results. No photoshop required:)

Fashion Icon

Nicole Richie.......personality aside, her fashion taste has been a inspiration for me in my day to day wardrobe (although it just never seems to turn out:)! Mix a little bohemian with a dash of glam, and a pinch of diva and out comes Nicole's very unique style. Do you love it or hate it?
