This Brit is full of character! I love Lilys voice (but who doesn't), but mostly her sense of style. Never apologising for jumping of the "majority"fashion bandwagon yet always managing to look great. Pink hair, yellow hair, black hair..... all great! Lily Allen is a person to keep a fashion eye on.

Free People,you have done it right!

Admittedly, I have not always been the body type to fit into the boho eclectic cuts of Free People's clothing so I have become a distant admirer. A top here, a hat there, but nothing worth mentioning...until now. Their new boot collection is AMAZING. I am a bootaholic and am having a hard time deciding which pair should be a must in my closet.

An oldie but a goodie! Aquarius from the Fifth Dimension has been a tune that I cant get enough of. I sing it in the shower, while cleaning, while in project mode, and mostly in the car. I am not sure why, but I do believe we all have an inner tune that you will love forever. Here is mine! Enjoy

Crown of Petals

My niece Colie and I where given these beautiful blooms as a gift and decided to have some fun with them!

We started with some thin craft wire, a pair of scissors, and a handful of blooms. I cut the wire to the desired length (in this case, the diameter of her little melon), bent the end so that the blooms would not slide off once strung and handed it over so she could build it herself.

Busy as a little bee Colie finished the crown and after I twisted the metal ends together, she was ready to make some more pieces! I had so much fun and so did she. A great project option for those cold days inside:)

Music Video Tuesday

Today I was scavenging through some vintage paper for a furniture piece my mom and I have been working on (I will post pics soon), and found a 1950 newspaper with fashion posts, old movie show times, and headline news. It was very interesting to see how much things have changed.

This video by Angus and Julia Stone reminisces of old 1950's life, and with their whispering vocals, it makes a perfect mix.

Caught a Hamburgler

If you haven't read the previous post on our raccoon problems, well let me get you up to speed. We have a cat door that leads to our basement and recently the local racoon's have discovered the FREE cat food. It has been driving my little Gretta crazy (she chases them in the middle of the night or in other words, no sleep for me), so we set up a trap.

We finally caught one and released the critter at a local forest preserve, but another one came back, so we set the trap out with our tasteless meatloaf which is another story. Well, as the picture shows, Gretta was a little piggy and got caught red-handed!

Music Video Tuesday

The Black Ghosts "Full Moon" has been a tune that I can honestly say have listened to over 100 times. I embarrassingly found this band/song through the Twilight movie soundtrack, which are honestly very good.

While I listen to this song, I like to picture my self driving on a beautiful winding road late at night with just the flicker of moon light glistening through the trees.......but the reality is, I am a horrible night time driver and way too nervous to hit a little animal or something.  Anyway, please enjoy!

My Thrifty Find

Ok, so these two pieces are not exactly alike, but pretty close. I have been keeping a wanting eye on the more expensive shrug from Anthropologie for some time now but just couldn't justify spending so mush money for a single item.

Today I felt like I found gold! While perusing the isles at Marshall's today, I found this sparkly little beauty calling to me underneath the piles of garb. It was the only one there and meant for ME. The price tag was great (16.99) and I cant wait to wear it everywhere (I mean everywhere.......as I am typing, the shrug graces my upper body:)

Travel Lightly

I pickup up this discarded suitcase and saw some potential. I needed a fun way to display our fascinator hair pieces at a local luxury shop and immediately wanted to incorporate this old guy!

1. I first washed the many years of stink away then used a flat white spray paint for the exterior and interior.
FYI: It took three coats to color everything completely, so be prepared.

2. I covered 13 different sized books with the white side of some wrapping paper scraps for a clean uniform appearance. I placed them in different levels of height throughout.

3. I made paper balls and covered them with material and decoupage as well as added some scrap material to add FLARE.

4. I used my vintage hat stands and placed them on the covered books.....and you have a one of a kind hat display case!

Closet Dreaming

I have been wanting to finish out my very tiny almost unbearable closet, but haven't made the time to do so. Anthropologie just released their new winter arrivals and I was smitten for these paper treatments and color combo's. Looking at the colorful inspiration shoe pic and am immediately excited about the closet's potential.

I am going to be working on this project very soon and cant wait to post the finished product.
