DIY: Fringe Plant Carrier

I absolutely love my little lemon tree and am going to house it this winter in our office to save it's delicate branches and roots from the Midwest winter frost. 

I really wanted a beautiful carrier (otherwise called the "wheelie thingy"), but the local stores offer very basic shapes and colors, so I decided to add some personal flare to a very basic plastic carrier. Here is how:

Taaa Daaa! I am loving my fringed out plant carrier so much and so is my little lemon tree:)

BRAIDS + SOCKS = TREND ALERT

Two major trends this fall that I just have to steel is the "Heidi Braid" and "Peeking Socks". Why you ask? Because they are both sugary sweet and will be the perfect accessory to my fall garb. This usually consists of floral dresses, skinny jeans, baggy sweaters, light weight scarves, boots, and a colorful bag, so naturally a wound up braid and peeking socks seems appropriate:)

 If you spot me sporting one of the two trends, please lie to me and tell me that I look awesome! 

Music Video Tuesday

This weeks video is a live concert view off of the upcoming album Babel from the great Mumford and Sons which will soon be released (9-24-12). 

I am so excited to listen to this album while cruising the winding roads in Wisconsin's Door County late this month! I can't wait, but I will!

    

Change

It's mid September which means Fall is creeping up fast. The feeling of sipping hot tea and cooking a great pot stew while cuddling up in my favorite sweater overwhelms me and I cant help but think of all the new changes. 

One change that I am ready for is my locks. Last winter I boldly went fire engine red and loved it (for a little while), but trying to get back to my natural dirty blond was way too much work. I want to make a change but with out consequences so I created this hair color board to visually give me a direction. 

I am really liking the lavender shades for fun and realistically eyeing the Cameron Diaz brunette. Any thoughts?

Cleaning House. Now What?

Maybe it's the sudden weather change (hot & sunny to rainy & cold) that has inspired me to clean the house from head to toe but I am at the point where I analyze each and every item and decide if I should "let go." One problem.....I just can not seem to get rid of my old quilts (three quilts to be exact). 

So soft and tattered, each quilt has a special memory so when I spotted this little doodle, I giggled out loud:) 

I think I will make a cape. Oh yea!

Steampunk Sentiments

This past week my sweet cousin Steven and his beautiful bride Kendra tied the knot in head to toe steampunk attire. 

My first time attending a costume themed wedding, I was surprised at how many guests dove head first into the industrial Victorian affair. English top hats, gears on glasses, canes, and boa covered doggies makes up one amazing night. We shared tears of joy, many happy laughs, and awesome dance moves (well, I thought my moves rocked) as the night sky moved in. 

I love you Steve and Kendra and wish you nothing but happiness in life. Thank you for one great weekend!!!!
